Industrial Dyes: Chemistry, Properties, Applications by Klaus Hunger, What would life be like without color? Ever since one can think back, color has always accompanied mankind. Dyes - originally obtained exclusively from natural sources - are today also produced synthetically on a large scale and represent one of the very mature and traditional sectors of the chemical industry. The present reference work on Industrial Dyes provides a comprehensive review of the chemistry, properties and applications of the most important groups of industrial dyes, including optical brighteners. It also outlines the latest developments in the area of functional dyes. Renowned experts in their respective fields have contributed to the chapters on chemical chromophores, synthesis and application of the various dye classes, textile dyeing and non-textile dyeing. The book is aimed at all professionals who are involved in the synthesis, production, manufacture or application of dyes and will prove to be an indispensable guide to all chemists, engineers and technicians in dye science and industry.
Understanding Textiles by Phyllis Tortora, In this revision of our book, we further emphasize how the properties of the different components of a textile fabric affect the performance of the final product. As a textile is built from fiber, then yarn, then fabric, so the text strives to build an understanding of how each contributes to product performance. The concept of "putting it all together" encourages students to think of a textile fabric in terms of the sum of its parts, rather than of the separate components. Two features in the book help to accomplish this. First, properties of fibers, yarns, and fabrics are summarized under the headings of "Durability," "Appearance," and "Comfort." The summaries discuss the effects of fabric components on these areas of performance that are important in the selection of textile fabrics. A second feature is the presentation of case studies of specific end use textile products. The case studies describe what properties are important for a specific textile end use and detail the considerations in selecting the appropriate fiber, yarn structure, fabric construction, and/or finish for that end use. Students are encouraged to analyze other end use products in a similar fashion. The revised text also features updated material on production, processing, and use of textiles. New fibers, such as lyocell and a number of high performance fibers, are presented. Advances in processing, dyeing, and finishing are also described. To provide emphasis for these or to pique student interest in a particular area, Consumer Briefs (boxed material that highlights a particular consumer product or products) are included in selected chapters.
Dye-sublimation printer - A dye-sublimation printer (or dye-sub printer) is a computer printer which employs a printing process that uses heat to transfer dye to a medium such as a plastic card, printer paper or poster paper. The process is usually to lay one color at a time using a ribbon that has color panels. Inner product space - In mathematics, an inner product space is a vector space with additional structure, an inner product (also called scalar product or dot product), which allows us to introduce geometrical notions such as angles and lengths of vectors. Inner product spaces generalize Euclidean spaces (with the dot product as the inner product) and are studied in functional analysis. Sony PictureStation DPP-EX50 - The Sony PictureStation DPP-EX50 is a dye-sublimation computer printer manufactured by Sony and is used for printing photographs. It prints both 3. Bluing (fabric) - Bluing, laundry blue, or washing blue is a household product used to improve the appearance of fabrics, especially white fabrics. Used during laundering, it adds a trace of blue dye (often synthetic ultramarine, sometimes Prussian blue) to the fabric.
